About Simon’s Formal Wear in Augusta, GA
The staff at Simon’s has a combined experience of over thirty years. Their expertise, enthusiasm, and professionalism can’t be found anywhere else in the CSRA. Each member of the team receives intensive training on how to properly fit gentlemen for their suit or tuxedo. Once that has been mastered, they learn the alteration process and how to customize the different rental and purchase outfits. The staff also studies wedding trends, casual menswear styles, and color matching to make sure that they can keep you current on the most up to date trends for your wedding or special event.
Their biggest passion, however, is providing premier customer service. The friendly and welcoming staff will make sure your experience is comfortable while also tending to every detail of your order. Formal wear might seem starchy, but the staff will make sure your visit is relaxed.
Meet Our Team
Lan Barrett, Owner
Lan grew up watching his father run Simon’s Formal Wear. After college, he managed operations under his father and then bought the business outright. Since then, he’s put his own spin on things, most recently including the new building off of Riverwatch Parkway.
Lan and his wife Crissy have three children who like to visit the shop. They play in the backroom and hide in the aisles of clothes, just like Lan did when he was a child.
Kortlyn began her tuxedo career in 2014. She came in as a part-time employee while she finished her Master’s in Education. She did finish, and then got a job teaching, and then kept teaching, and still hasn’t left! By day she teaches 7th and 8th graders and by night she works doing a little bit of just about everything around the shop. When asked why she keeps coming back, she says she enjoys working with her coworkers and the customers too much to give it up. When she’s not instructing children or reorganizing the backroom, you can find her painting, cooking, or doing yoga.
JJ joined the team in 2018. While many of the staff can sew, none can do it as well as JJ can. She is the magic behind the curtain making sure that every suit or tuxedo that goes out is tailored to exact specifications. Short or tall, slim or wide, athletic or husky, JJ makes sure that every man is happy with his outfit and she can make adjustments even while you wait! JJ also works at the Marriott downtown and enjoys pickleball, traveling, and spending time with her husband.
Kelsey has been with Simon’s since 2018. Her dynamic energy and stellar social medial skills have been an amazing asset. Her favorite part of working at Simon’s is helping couples find their perfect wedding outfit. When she’s not making wedding dreams come true, Kelsey enjoys taking pictures (including our Simon’s photo shoots!), playing with her dog, and studying for her nursing courses at Augusta University.
Julia is the newest addition to the Simon’s family, but she has hit the ground running. She quickly learned the ins and outs of formal wear and has brought a youthful enthusiasm to the team. When asked by customers if she always enjoys working this much, she quickly responds, “Yes I do!”
